Since July 1, 2025, schools that opted into the House settlement can pay athletes directly, up to a per-school cap. The College Sports Commission publishes only national totals, not school-by-school amounts, so this table shows what each school or credible reporting has said, and marks the rest as not published.

National totals, year one

$1.77B
2025-26
Revenue sharing paid to 34,915 athletes at 307 paying schools (319 opted in), per the College Sports Commission [assets.tina.io]

All payments counted against the cap, including $42.0M in Alston awards and $163.5M in new scholarships [assets.tina.io]

Schools at or within 5% of the cap. Forbes reports 63 hit the cap and 10 spent nothing [assets.tina.io] [forbes.com]
$20.5M → $21.58M
Cap, 2025-26 → 2026-27
Per-school cap [nilnewsstand.com]; CSC figure; some news reports say $21.3M [thecollegeinvestor.com]

Aggregate figures only: the College Sports Commission does not publish per-school amounts.

All 68 schools

How to read this: Reported = the school, its board or its AD stated the figure (via an official release or news coverage). Reported (conference-wide) = no school-specific document; based on a report that all 18 Big Ten schools committed the full $20.5M. Reported (weak source) = secondary source only. Not published = no figure found; nothing estimated. 27 of 68 schools have a reported 2025-26 figure. Most figures are commitments or budgets, not audited payments.

Knight-Newhouse column: the FY2025 “institutional NIL / revenue share” expense line from schools' NCAA financial reports. It is filled for 53 public schools; 49 report $0 and 4 are nonzero. FY2025 ended June 30, 2025, before House payments began July 1, 2025, so the nonzero values reflect pre-settlement institutional NIL or collective pass-through spending. There is no FY2026 Knight-Newhouse data yet. Private schools are not covered.

Roster NIL estimate column: Estimate The Sideline's 2026 football roster-market index. It is a model estimate of each roster's NIL market, not On3, not a payroll and not money received. Shown for context only.

Third-party NIL payouts

No school publishes total third-party NIL paid to athletes. Collective 990s (see 990s.json: TCU Flying T $10.0M expenses CY2024; Montlake Futures; TrueNU; FUND; etc.) are the only documentary NIL-spend figures, and they cover only the nonprofit arm. Texas Tech said it will redirect $9-10M of department revenue to NIL in 2026-27. See the tax filings explorer for the collectives' 990s.
